AN OPEN LETTER TO NATIONAL COORDINATOR AND Ag. PRESIDENT OF THE TEACHER TRAINEES ASSOCIATION OF GHANA-TTAG

Dear Shadrach Abbey and Jonathan Apam,

I write to sincerely commend you and the other executives of the Teacher Trainees' Association of Ghana (TTAG) on the good work you are sacrificing your life and time to undertake all in the name of seeking the welfare of Teacher Trainees in Ghana.
I hope this letter finds you in a good state of metabolism. It seems too late but I pray the Good Lord smoothens the path through which letters reach your high offices as He grants you the courage and strength to act on it.

The first semester of the 2016/2017 academic year has almost ended and as it has always been, bills for the second semester will be issued to trainees so that the necessary payments will be made on the day of reopening. The components of these bills include Examination fees, Feeding fees, Utility bills and some others.

Obviously, level 100 and 200 trainees will be paying higher fees than level 300 trainees owing to the fact that we are no more on campus. The first semester bills footed by level 300 trainees had a feeding fee component of ¢385.00 which we welcomed with a lot of protests but finally accepted after hearing that we will be on campus in preparation towards our examination. Out of this, we have spent initial four weeks on campus and are hoping for extra three weeks on campus in preparation towards our end of first semester examination.

My hand tripped for my pen to scribble these words immediately after spotting another ¢385.00 on a college's level 300 bill for the second semester dubbed "Feeding Arrears". Further probing into the issue, the little I was told was that, the ¢385.00 is the feeding fee for our extra three weeks stay on campus for this semester . I have since then been left in a complete state of dilemma since a semester's feeding fee is only ¢560.

Under critical analysis and dividing the ¢560.00 by three months which make a semester, I can state clearly that each trainee spends an amount of ¢186.67 out of the paid feeding fee each month. The picture now becomes clear that each level 300 trainee has an amount of ¢198.33 out of the already paid ¢385.00 with his or her college. I therefore find everything wrong with an extra charge on feeding fee to be levied on level 300 trainees.

Believing in my able executives, I decided to notify you on the blow yet to hit level 300 trainees nationwide before it's too late. I would finally urge you Hon. Shadrach Abbey (TTAG National Coordinator) and Hon. Jonathan Apam(Ag. TTAG President) to further probe into the issue to avert any extra " calamity " yet to befall level 300 trainees.

Thank you.

Yours in students service
